Find your fit - the best jeans for every shape and size

From high waisted to a classic skinny, jeans are an iconic staple for every wardrobe and every season. They can take you from a casual brunch with friends to an evening soiree (just add heels).  However, finding the right fit and style can be overwhelming with an endless array of options to choose from. Read on for a definitive guide on all things jeans to help you find a pair that flatter your features and make you feel fabulous.

Skinny – These jeans are a must-have fit for everybody (and comfortable thanks to stretch denim!). This type of jean is slimmest at the ankle compared to all other styles. For a flattering look, go for a darker wash of denim and pair with oversized tops. Our pick? The Taylor Ankle Skinny at Jay Jays.

Straight leg – For a more classic style, you can’t go past a pair of straight leg jeans. This style is looser fitting than skinny jeans and suits hourglass, apple and athletic shapes. For a polished look, pair your straight leg jeans with a tailored shirt and blazer. Or if you’re after a more relaxed vibe, wear with your favourite tee and boots. Our go-to pair are the Comfort Jeans by Rockmans.

Boyfriend – A baggy style, the Boyfriend jean has been trending for a while now and we can see why! A relaxed look, this fit suits apple and athletic shapes. As it’s a looser style, fitted tops work well to add some definition (otherwise it can look a little shapeless). Go casual with some white sneakers or for a dressier take on the Boyfriend jean, pair with heels and a chic blazer. We love the Billabong ‘Boy Is Mine’ Jeans, available at Surf Dive N Ski.

High waisted – The perfect fit for an hourglass or athletic figure. This style will accentuate your curves by cinching in a small waist. Rock high waisted pants with a cute cropped top or a tuck in style shirt. We can’t go past the edgy Jessie High Rise Abrasion Jean at Jay Jays – available in a mid-wash or light wash.

Flare – Bring back those retro vibes with a statement pair of flares! These look great on pear and hourglass figures. Here’s a handy tip; if you’re petite, remember that flares are generally longer in design, so make sure you find a pair that just graze the floor rather than overwhelm your shorter figure. We recommend wearing a fitted top to show off those flares and accentuate your legs. We love the iconic Rollas Eastcoast Flare from Surf Dive N Ski.
